CHA Members Spend Time Volunteering at hopeFound Shelter

Recently, CHA participated in its annual volunteer event at hopeFound in Jamaica Plain, MA. CHA members prepared and delivered lunch to hopeFound’s current residents. In addition to serving a classic, homemade West Indian meal, CHA also gave out care packages, conducted a coat drive and presented the donations to hopeFound staff.

 

hopeFound is a nonprofit organization established in 1983 to provide aid to homeless men and women in the Greater Boston area. The organization offers services to their residents, which assists them in overcoming substance abuse and obtaining housing and employment. Since 2007, CHA has taken part in a yearly event with hopeFound to support their mission to end hunger and homelessness in the Boston area.

CHA CELEBRATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY  

Caribbean Heritage Association, Inc. celebrated its 25 year Anniversary during April and May 2011, with a Church Service at St. Cyprians Church on April 17, 2011, an Open House on May 7, 2011 at the St. Cyprians Church Hall, 1073 Tremont St. Boston, MA and an Anniversary Gala at Moseley's on the Charles, 50 Bridge Street, Dedham, Massachusetts.

OPEN HOUSE 
On Saturday May, 7, 2011 CHA commemorated the occasion with an Open House, and showcased its accomplishments by displaying memorabilia from different events held over the years. Also highlighted were video clips of scholarship presentations, Food Festivals and cultural shows. Entertainment included music, singing and drama skits for entertainment. Several vendors were on hand to showcase their craft.



25TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
On Saturday May 14, 2011, CHA had a Gala to conclude its 25th Anniversary celebration, at Moseley's on the Charles in Dedham, MA. In attendance were invited members of the Boston political establishment, members of the Barbados Delegation in New York, Washington DC, and Barbados. Musical entertainment for the night was provided by the New Release Band from New York City and sounds by Sound International from Boston. 

The keynote speaker for the evening was the Honorable Maxine McClean, Barbados Minister of Foreign Affairs. Ms. McClean gave incite of the current status of government in Barbados and the types of projects they have completed. Also she gave a outline of issues and challenges facing the Barbados economy. This was the Minister's first visit to Boston.
