HISTORY
Caribbean Heritage Association was formed partly as a way to bring Boston area Barbadians together to participate in social events. In 1985, the founders, Pamela Clinton and Judy McClean longed for a way to socialize with their fellow Boston Barbadians. However, their vision was beyond the usual Saturday night party. These dynamic ladies wanted to host events that could include the entire family, so that the Barbadian culture could be celebrated and passed down to the next generation. As a result, they organize a bus trip. It was after that event that Pamela and Judy saw the need for an organization that could promote and preserve not only the Barbadian heritage, but an organization that would foster the cultural history of the Caribbean in its entirety. In March 1986, the first meeting of the Caribbean Heritage Association was held in Pamela’s living room.
Over the past 25 years, Caribbean Heritage Association has become more than a social organization. Today Caribbean Heritage Association is an organization that renders support to the less unfortunate, provide scholarships to deserving students while providing support to other non-profits.
